Creation of a Digital Book

With great excitement, the 1st Kindergarten of Corfu presents the digital book that documents our educational journey, which took place within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. This book captures a participatory, experiential, and child-centered learning path through activities that encourage freedom, imagination, and the joy of learning outside the traditional classroom.

Inspired by the pedagogical approaches of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and outdoor education, we have created a learning environment where the child actively participates, discovers, creates, and co-constructs knowledge, while nurturing their imagination and exploring the world around them. The outdoor space, as an open workshop for experiences, serves as the ideal place for children to learn through play, nature care, and the joy of exploration.

This digital book is not only a record of the activities carried out but also a reflection of the philosophy that guides the 1st Kindergarten of Corfu: a child-centered approach that respects each child's personality and needs, offering them the opportunity to grow through collaboration, creativity, and active participation.

This experience, enhanced by participation in the Erasmus+ program, allowed us to provide our students with learning opportunities that extend beyond the four walls of the classroom, connecting them with the world around them and allowing them to develop new skills and create links with other cultures and educational systems across Europe.

Dissemination of the Erasmus+ Project to the Students

At the 1st Kindergarten of Corfu, the experiences gained from our participation in the Erasmus+ program and the seminar "The Best for Preschool Teachers" in Bologna, Italy have been shared with our young students!

Paticipating in the program and introducing innovative pedagogical approaches, such as the Montessori Method, outdoor education, and the Reggio Emilia approach, have enriched our educational practice and brought new, creative teaching methods to the classroom.

Soon, our students will have the opportunity to discover education innovatively and experientially through play, collaboration, and exploration, enhancing their participation and promoting their autonomy.

The students have already had the chance to learn about Italy on the map, we shared photos and videos of the schools we visited with them, and they were treated to Italian sweets, offering a taste of the country’s cultural heritage.

To improve their learning experience, the methods we will apply will help the children develop skills, express their creativity, and acquire new knowledge with interest and enthusiasm.

We are excited that our young students will actively participate in this process and look forward to seeing the results of this innovative and interactive educational approach!

Sharing Knowledge and Applying Innovative Practices with Colleagues

To disseminate the impact of the Erasmus program, the newly acquired knowledge was shared during a seminar with kindergarten teachers and the Preschool Education Consultant of Corfu, held on January 22, 2025.

During the 1st mobility in Nice, Italy, we learned many innovative practices and strategies that enrich preschool education. Our main goal was to learn strategies for the active involvement of all children in the learning and participation process. Specifically, we gained knowledge and tools for:

  • Differentiated teaching strategies that address the diverse needs of children and enhance their participation.
  • Tools and methods that promote active participation and creativity among children, making learning more engaging and accessible.
  • Use of technology and digital media to enhance interactive learning and create new learning opportunities.
  • Collaboration techniques that strengthen children’s social and emotional skills, fostering group cohesion.
  • Implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to create an educational environment that responds to the needs of all children, with the aim of increasing participation and equality in learning processes.

Dissemination of 1st Mobility: Informing Parents About UDL

As part of the dissemination of the Erasmus+ program, informational leaflets about the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach were distributed to parents.

Our knowledge and experience regarding the UDL approach were acquired through our participation in the 1st mobility in Nice, France. The training we attended was titled: "Instructional Strategies to Address the Diverse Needs of All Students." This invaluable experience inspired us to adopt innovative practices that promote engagement, diversity, and creativity in our classroom, ensuring equal learning opportunities for all children.

The informational leaflets gave parents insights into how UDL principles are implemented in our classroom. We aimed to help parents understand how this approach supports their children’s learning and growth while encouraging them to adopt similar strategies at home. By working together, both at school and at home, we can ensure a consistent and supportive environment where every child feels valued, included, and empowered to succeed.

Sharing Insights from Our 1st Mobility: Informing Parents About Our Experience

During our participation in the 1st mobility of the Erasmus+ program, we gained valuable knowledge and innovative strategies to enhance the inclusion and engagement of all children in the learning process. This mobility, titled "Instructional Strategies to Address the Diverse Needs of All Students," provided us with tools to create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.

By sharing our experiences with parents, we aim to highlight how these practices are implemented in our classroom and how they can support their children’s development at home. Together, we can create a collaborative and nurturing environment that ensures equal opportunities for every child to succeed.
